BOULDER MODERN NET ZERO HOME
When you design a home for two environmental attorneys, you'd better make it very friendly to the environment. And when those two attorneys also have an extensive art collection, it had better be a work of art on its own right.
HMH Architecture + Interiors created a sculptural plan with long, uninterrupted walls throughout the house to showcase and complement their two and three-dimensional art. Windows were carefully sized and located to optimize daylight, art lighting, energy gain, and views.
No matter how much a home is designed with an eye towards art, it still needs to be designed for living. With a son and two dogs, this couple needed a multifunctional room to serve as a family social center. This great room includes the kitchen, dining area, an open office for family interaction, and a covered porch for eating and playing outdoors.
The result is an integration of the environment, living and art, customized for a specific family.
